During a special legislative session this morning (Nov. 9, 2021), members of the South Dakota House of Representatives approved the list of their members who will serve on the committee tasked with determining if impeachment proceedings move forward against the state’s attorney general.
Speaker of the House Representative Spencer Gosch of Glenham appointed himself and eight members to the Special Investigative Committee on Impeachment to consider the possible impeachment of Jason Ravnsborg.
Representative Will Mortenson of Pierre offered an amendment, which he says does two things.
Mortenson says today they got the impeachment process started.
The committee of Representatives will investigate and make a recommendation to the full House at a later date.
In August (Aug. 26, 2021), Ravnsborg pleaded “no contest” to two misdemeanor traffic charges related to the death of Joeseph Boever near Highmore in September of last year (Sept. 12, 2020). The judge ordered no jail time, but ordered Ravnsborg to pay a $500 on each of the two misdemeanor counts as well as associated court costs.
