VERMILLION – South Dakota won its second straight Summit League volleyball postseason title Saturday, defeating regular-season champion Omaha 25-23, 30-28, 25-16 at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
The Coyotes earned the Summit League’s automatic NCAA Tournament bid and won the conference tournament for the third time in the last four seasons.
Elizabeth Juhnke was named the tournament MVP for the second straight season as she scored 24 kills, tying a school record for a three-set match. Sami Slaughter had 15 kills. Madison Jurgens had 46 assists and 14 digs. Both Slaughter and Jurgens were also named to the all-tournament team.
USD will play Minnesota, the number-12 national seed, in the first round in the Minneapolis Region Friday at 7:00 PM at Maturi Pavilion.
