Two people died yesterday morning (Dec. 7, 2021 at 7:13am) in a two-vehicle crash one mile east of Salem.
Names of the two people involved are not being released.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates a 1999 Toyota Camry was westbound on South Dakota Highway 38 when it crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound 2007 Mercury Milan.
Both the 22-year-old female driver of the Mercury and the 60-year-old male driver of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither were wearing seat belts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
