The Hughes County Commission has approved a contract to provide nurses and medical care for inmates at the County Jail.
Sheriff Patrick Callahan says they struggle to keep nurses on staff.
Callahan proposed signing a contract with Correctional Health Care Associates.
He says, as everyone knows, medical care doesn’t come cheap.
Callahan says this contract would also allow the Hughes County Jail to move from paper records to electronic medical records. He says he hopes to implement the new contract by late January or early February.
