Our Feel Good Friday stories for the week…
1. A guy in England raised a bunch of money for charity by driving the entire length of the U.K. from top to bottom in the world’s smallest car. It’s less than four-and-a-half feet long, with a top speed of 23 miles an hour.
2. A year ago, there was a story about a stray dog that was spotted swimming across the Ohio River from Indiana to Kentucky, which is more than half-a-mile across. Now a trainer who’s been working with her just adopted the dog on the one-year anniversary.
3. A guy in Australia had a dream a few years ago that he won the lottery. He remembered the numbers on the winning ticket in his dream. So he’s been using them as real lottery numbers ever since . . . and now they just hit in real life. On Sunday, he won $3.4 MILLION.
4. Back in 2014, a guy in Paramus, New Jersey named John Russo was battling throat cancer. And he told his girlfriend that if he beat it, he’d celebrate with a huge Christmas light display. And now it’s a tradition. He just posted a video of this year’s computerized display that’s set to music and 40 minutes long. He’s currently running it five to six hours a day, seven days a week.
5. Two sisters in their 70s . . . who didn’t know each other existed . . . just met for the first time in Denver. 76-year-old Harriet Carter’s parents were only 18 when they had her, and gave her up for adoption. But they stayed together and had another girl named Linda, who’s 73. They found each other through DNA tests on Ancestry.com.
6. A brother and sister in Ohio named Tyler and Monica Slaven started a toy drive for sick kids back in 2015. And they’ve donated almost 50,000 toys since then.
7. Two cops in Spain dove into a freezing-cold lake to save a dog that fell through the ice. And someone got it on video.
8. A guy in Cincinnati named Alex Johns volunteers at his local Humane Society. And he just raised a bunch of money for them this week. He walked 50 shelter dogs for this 50th birthday on Monday, and raised over $11,000 in the process. Obviously he didn’t walk them all at once though.
