Let’s enjoy some Feel Good Friday Stories…
1. An Australian scientist has created “habitat pods” for animals displaced by wildfires. They’re made from biodegradable cardboard . . . and they can house small animals like bandicoots, possums, bush rats, and reptiles.
2. An 11-year-old in Tennessee saved all four of his siblings from a house fire last week. Their mom was down the street letting their grandparents’ dog out when the fire started. So he took charge and got three of them out, then ran back in to rescue his two-year-old brother. People have donated over $30,000 on GoFundMe to help out.
3. Two women named Cheryl Becker and Linda Rinaldi worked together at a hospital in Connecticut 30 years ago. Now they’re back in touch after they both started researching their ancestry . . . took DNA tests . . . and found out they’re half-sisters.
4. A woman in Georgia was so impressed with her IHOP waitress, she tipped her $40 on a $30 tab. Then she found out the waitress has been struggling. So she posted about it on Facebook, and people have sent more than $10,000 to help the waitress out.
5. Someone dropped a gold coin worth $1,900 in a Salvation Army bucket at a grocery store in Alaska. It was a South African Krugerrand.
6. A woman in Germany lost her wedding ring 25 years ago, but just got it back . . . after a mole dug it out of the ground. She never knew where she’d lost it. It turns out it slipped off her finger near a local swimming pool. And this part’s cool: She kept hoping she’d find it someday, so she and her husband never bought a replacement ring.
7. A woman in Philadelphia named Charlotte Fatoma tried to drive herself to the hospital when she went into labor last month, but had the baby in her car on the side of the road. And on Tuesday, she got to meet the 911 operator who talked her through it. The operator’s name is Elyce Rivera, and she’d only been on the job for a month. When they finally met, Charlotte revealed that she named her daughter Elizabeth Elyce in her honor. She also asked her to be the baby’s godmother.
8. A guy in New York named Lenny Landau just celebrated his 101st birthday and still feels great. He says the secret is to maintain friendships with people who are younger than you are . . . which is kind of unavoidable for him at this point. But also to, quote, “do a good, anonymous deed every day of your life.”
9. A teacher in Durham, North Carolina named Turquoise Parker started an initiative in 2015 called the Bull City Foodraiser that feeds underprivileged kids during the holidays. She’s in the news because of a MASSIVE Costco haul. She posted the receipt on Twitter after the money people donated this year bought over $100,000 in groceries.
