BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Democratic Sen. Erin Oban says the Jan. 6 insurrection isn’t the reason she won’t run for reelection next year (2023). She says it’s the increased divisiveness in politics that has followed. Oban announced last month that she would not seek a third term. It came a week after Bismarck GOP Sen. Nicole Poolman said she also won’t seek reelection, in part because of an eroding civility in politics. North Dakota U.S. Rep. Kelly Armstrong says there has been an erosion of civility in politics ongoing for a long time and parallels the advent of social media.
