BRANDON – In what is becoming a familiar scenario this season for Pierre Governor Girls Basketball, the Governors faced a big deficit Friday before coming back, then falling just short.
Brandon Valley held off Pierre 43-41 at Brandon Valley High School.
Hilary Behrens scored 18 points for the Lynx, including three three-pointers. Tessa Bowar hit four threes and scored 16.
Ayvrie Kaiser led Pierre (3-7) with 17 points. Reese Terwilliger scored 13.
The Governors were down as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter before cutting Brandon Valley’s lead to four in the last two minutes. Pierre came within two on the last shot of the game, a three-pointer by Kaiser just before the final buzzer.
Pierre will play Tuesday at Aberdeen Central. Coverage will begin at 6:30 on 1060/103.1 KGFX and on the KGFX page at the DRG News app & drgnews.com.
