A federal US District Court judge in South Dakota has determined the penalty for a Lakewood, Colorado, man convicted of Subornation of Perjury and Conspiracy to Commit Subornation of Perjury.
35 year old Jason Patrick Baca was sentenced to five years in federal prison on each count, to run consecutively, followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $200 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The conviction stems from Baca threatening a material witness and dissuading the witness from testifying truthfully in the September 2021 jury trial for the 2016 assault and shooting death of Vincent Von Brewer III.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah Collins and Benjamin Patterson prosecuted the case.
Baca was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
