A 30 year old man from St. Francis, South Dakota, convicted of Assault With a Dangerous Weapon was sentenced in U.S. District Court.
The judge determined Koty Arcoren must spend 28 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and pay a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.
The conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on March 7, 2021, in St. Francis, wherein Arcoren approached a man who was sitting in a parked car and confronted him. Arcoren then produced a large knife and swung it at the man. The man raised his arm to protect himself and Arcoren cut the man’s finger with the knife.
This case was investigated by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuted the case.
