UPDATE FEBRUARY 22, 2022:
The Pierre School District expects to have classes tomorrow (Feb. 23, 2022) at Kennedy Elementary School, despite a water sprinkler line break this morning.
Business manager Darla Mayer says staff is doing some rearranging to make enough space for students.
Mayer says fortunately not every space in the school was affected.
Kennedy Elementary has one of the kitchens the district uses to make meals for other school buildings. Mayer says that process hasn’t been disrupted.
The full extent of the damage to Kennedy Elementary is still being evaluated.
FEBRUARY 23, 2022:
Classes have been called off for today (Feb. 22, 2022) at Kennedy Elementary School in Pierre because of a water line break.
Pierre School District Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt says water had to be shut off to the entire building.
The extent of the damage to Kennedy Elementary is not yet known.
