The South Dakota House of Representatives is imploring the United States Congress to uphold their constitutional obligation and formally declare war rather than passing resolutions authorizing military force. House Concurrent Resolution 6006 passed yesterday (Feb. 22, 2022) on a 62 to 2 vote.
Supporters of the resolution say the last time the United States officially declared war was World II Two. Since then, the country has engaged in wars all around the world based on resolutions authorizing military action.
The resolution received no opposition on the House floor. It now goes to the Senate for further consideration.
