The value of South Dakota’s 2021 field and miscellaneous crops is forecast at $8.13 billion, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This is up 21% from 2020.
The value of corn production is expected to total $4.14 billion, up 32% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota’s corn price is projected to average $5.60 per bushel, up $1.23 from the last marketing year.
The value of soybean production is expected to total $2.78 billion, up 19% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota’s soybean price is projected to average $12.90 per bushel, up $2.60 from the last marketing year.
The value of winter wheat production is expected to total $204 million, up 21% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota’s winter wheat price is projected to average $7.45 per bushel, up $2.60 from the last marketing year.
The value of other spring wheat production is expected to total $145 million, down 21% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota’s other spring wheat price is projected to average $8.50 per bushel, up $3.30 from the last marketing year.
The value of alfalfa production is expected to total $330 million, down 10% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota’s alfalfa price is projected to average $169.00 per ton, up $56.00 from the last marketing year. The value of other hay production is expected to total $143 million, down 16% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota’s other hay price is projected to average $124.00 per ton, up $44.00 from the last marketing year.
