A 25 year old man from Stephan, SD, has received his sentence on two drug related files.
Stanley County States Attorney Tom Maher says the charges against Joel James Brouse come from files in both Hughes and Stanley counties.
In October of 2021, Brouse had received a five year suspended prison sentence, with credit for 144 days previously served in jail. Then, on or about Dec. 24, 2021, Brouse committed the new offenses of DUI and Possession of Methamphetamine in Hughes County. Maher says the new charges caused the revocation of the prior Stanley County sentence. The judge sentenced Brouse to consecutive five year prison sentences, which were suspended, with credit for 30 days previously served. Brouse was placed on five years supervised probation, with several terms and conditions.
The case was investigated by the Stanley County Sheriff’s Office and the Pierre Police Department.
