SIOUX FALLS – Stanley County’s Chase Hanson won the Class B 120-pound state championship Friday at the SDHSAA State Wrestling Tournament at the Denny Sanford Premier Center to become the Buffaloes’ first individual state champion since Luke Heninger in 2016, also at 120 pounds.
Hanson won a 6-3 decision over Kellan Hurd of Miller/Highmore-Harrold to win the title. On Thursday, Hanson pinned Brayden Wiese of Flandreau in the first round, then won a 5-2 decision over Teague Granum of Canton in the quarterfinal. Earlier Friday, Hanson defeated Tate Miller of Howard in the semifinal by a 6-0 decision.
SC’s Levi Stover finished in seventh at 170 pounds. Colton Brady competed at 145 pounds.
