Fort Pierre working to meet April 1 application deadline to pay for a drinking water treatment plant
The City of Fort Pierre continues to work on its application to the State Water Plan to receive funding for a municipal water treatment plant.
Brian Hoellein is with engineering firm Bartlett & West. He says they’re trying to move Fort Pierre’s application along more quickly than usual.
Hoellein says the nearest application deadline is April 1, 2022.
Hoellein says they don’t yet know the rate for the grants.
Once funding is approved, it could take two years to build a new plant.
Fort Pierre Alderman Todd Bernhard is a member of the State Water Board, the entity that reviews State Water Plan applications.
