Former Stanley County and Dakota Wesleyan basketball standout Dan Duffy was inducted into the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference Hall of Fame in a ceremony on April 2 in Madison.
Duffy led Stanley County to a third-place finish in the 1978 Class B State Basketball Tournament, then had an excellent career at DWU as one of the state’s best-ever outside shooters. His 1,746 career points are eighth in Tiger men’s basketball history. He holds the DWU records for most three-pointers made in one game (10), most three-pointers in a season (130), best season three-point percentage (50.2%), best career three-point percentage (50.2%), and best career free throw percentage (86.5%).
In 1983, Duffy received the Emile S. Liston Award as the NAIA Student Athlete of the Year, only the second DWU athlete ever to earn this honor.
Duffy is a former DWU director of development and member of the university’s board of trustees.
