There’s been a little rain over the past week, so people traveling in rural Hughes County may see road graders out doing their work.
Rain softens the road surface which makes it easier to blade and helps the graded road bind together better than when conditions are dry.
There may also be a windrow of gravel on one side of the road. Hughes County Highway Superintendent Trent Arbach says windrows are made intentionally.
Arbach says windrows are one way to control the loose gravel.
