Fort Pierre Mayor Gloria Hanson has been reelected for another two year term and Scott Deal has been elected to the Ward II City Alderman position.
City Finance Officer Roxanne Heezen has the unofficial results from yesterday’s (April 12, 2022) municipal election.
Hanson is excited for the future of Fort Pierre.
The mayor’s race was a contentious one and Hanson says it wasn’t always easy to deal with.
Hanson and Deal will be sworn in at the first Fort Pierre City Council meeting in May (May 2, 2022).
Both races saw just over 33.5% voter turnout.
The unofficial vote totals are below.
Mayor’s race:
Hanson– 341 votes (62%)
Hoffman– 207 votes (37%)
33.64% voter turnout for the mayor’s race.
Ward 2:
Deal– 94 votes (54%)
Rathbun– 80 votes (46%)
33.59% voter turnout for the Ward 2 alderman race.
