Let’s take a look at some Good Friday Feel Good Stories…
1. A guy in Wisconsin lost his wedding ring at a dog park last Friday, but someone found it for him the next day while playing fetch with their dog. The dog dropped a ball at their feet, and the ring was right there next to it. The guy said he was relieved to get it back, because he thought his own dog might have swallowed it . . . and he had been sifting through its poop.
2. Have you seen this video? A third-grader in New Jersey was drinking water at school . . . squeezed the bottle while the lid was halfway on . . . and the cap ended up lodged in his THROAT. But then his teacher did the Heimlich and saved him.
3. A three-year-old in Canada told his parents he wanted to be a firefighter. So they helped him draft up a résumé that listed all his relevant experience . . . and his local fire department made him a “junior member” of their crew. He got to tour the station and ride around on a fire truck. They said his “relevant experience” included knowing a lot about fire engines . . . having a basic understanding of hydraulics . . . and successfully completing a firefighting coloring book.
4. A wedding in England had to be canceled last minute on Saturday after the venue’s roof caught FIRE. But luckily no one was hurt . . . and firefighters managed to rescue the wedding cake.
5. A nine-year-old boy in Boise named Ben Miller got to be interviewed by the news after raising TWO THOUSAND dollars for the Idaho Humane Society. He did it by selling lemonade, cookies, and dog treats. He’s been donating in chunks for the past two years. His most recent lemonade haul was his biggest yet, $1,150.
6. A guy from Egypt just broke two world records for the longest underwater swim using a single breath . . . over 250 feet using flippers, and over 185 feet without flippers. But here’s the amazing part: He did it with one leg. He lost his left leg in a motorcycle accident six years ago.
7. A guy in Iowa retired last fall after 38 years as a firefighter. Now his 23-year-old daughter is in the news, because she got fire departments in all 50 states to send her their t-shirts, and she’s making a quilt for him. She’s already received over 100 shirts, including a few from overseas.
8. Rescuers in Ukraine pulled a puppy from the rubble of a building that got shelled by Russia on Wednesday, and it’s all on video. The dog’s 77-year-old owner survived too.
9. And here’s another story out of Ukraine: A German cyclist named Tony Martin auctioned off his Olympic silver medal to raise money for Ukrainian refugees, and it sold for about $38,000. But now it turns out a company called FitLine bought it just so they could give it back to him.
10. After a bear cub was found stranded in a tree with its paw stuck between the trunk and a branch, a North Carolina wildlife official came to its rescue. The advocacy group Help Asheville Bears said in a Facebook post that the group was alerted to the cub on Wednesday afternoon. They confirmed that the bear was in distress, with its sibling at the scene trying to help free the stuck paw. Help Asheville Bears contacted the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and Wildlife Conservation Technician Ryan Luckadoo responded to the scene. He climbed the tree and was able to pull the bear’s paw free. Thankfully the bear was fine and had no damage to its paw.
