A study found that despite the casual appearance of their TV counterparts, patients want their doctors to dress formally and not show up in blue jeans and sandals. Name badges, white coats and dress shoes are preferable for both male and female doctors, the patients in the study said. More than one in three patients surveyed said sandals, clogs and blue jeans were significantly undesirable in doctors of both genders.
