A 44 year old man from Rapid City convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance has been sentenced in federal court.
Mark Smith must spend 10 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
During his involvement in the conspiracy, the Defendant arranged for methamphetamine to be shipped to South Dakota from California. The methamphetamine was then dispersed to others for use and further distribution.
This case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Smith was immediately returned to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
