Hughes County doing work on landfill road

The Hughes County Highway Department will be doing road work beginning on the west end of the road to the Pierre Landfill. Work will begin on 293rd Avenue south of Highway 14 and then move onto 206th Street heading east. The project will begin today (May 16, 2022) and continue for several weeks. Work will include pulling shoulders, reshaping and packing the roadway and possibly adding water to the road. Drivers should proceed with caution in the area of the road work and can expect traffic slow downs and delays. Hughes County would encourage those with other options to pick another route.
