JUNE 2022:
A man from Mission convicted of Sexual Abuse of a Minor has received his punishment from a federal court judge.
Jaret Wooden Knife, age 24, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.
The conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on January 10, 2020, in Mission, when Wooden Knife knowingly engaged in a sexual act with a minor female.
This case was investigated by the FBI.
Wooden Knife was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
MARCH 2022:
A federal grand jury has determined there is enough evidence to charge a 24 year old man from Mission with Sexual Abuse of a Minor.
Jaret Wooden Knife pled not guilty.
The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 15 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, not less than five years up to life of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
The Indictment alleges that on or about January 10, 2020, in Mission, Wooden Knife knowingly engaged in, and attempted to engage in, a sexual act with a minor female.
The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Wooden Knife was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has been set for April 12, 2022.
