At Wednesday’s (July 13th) meeting of the Mobridge City Council, a motion passed to use funds from the council’s contingency to install fifty feet of curb and apron across the alley at 320 6th Street West to fix a drainage issue, at the recommendation of the city engineer. The contractor’s estimated cost is $3,200. Councilperson Jade Mound voted “no” on the motion.
Also at the meeting, Mobridge Police Chief Shawn Madison presented lifesaving awards to Ashton Norder and Kelly Silbernagel for their actions to save a life using CPR on May 5th.
Water/Wastewater Superintendent Kurt Schmaltz updated the council on the Water funding package, and council approved a Change Order for the Waste Water Treatment Plant Headworks Improvement project in the amount of $2,159.78 for changing butterfly valves to plug flow valves.
Public hearing was held and approval given on a temporary liquor license for the Rockin’ On The River Street Dance July 22nd and 23rd. There will be no hard liquor, just jello shots.
Council approved a resolution making the Juneteenth Holiday a floating leave day for city employees.
A Change Order for nozzels for the jet fuel project was approved. The amount is $4,410.00.
Council approved renewal of the service contract for generators with Cummins Sales and Service of Sioux Falls in the amount of $9,971.43.
The purchase of playground equipment for the pickle ball and basketball court project was also approved.
Councilperson Randy Carlson had a reminder for Mobridge residents not to blow mowed grass into the streets. City Finance Officer Heather Beck and Councilperson Jade Mound both said they had searched for an ordinance pertaining to this issue but could not find one. Beck said if no ordinance can be found she can have one drafted up.
