Here are some Feel Good Friday stories to brighten your day!
1. A guy in England was on his way to a dog show on Sunday when he found a lost pup on the side of the road. So he picked it up . . . entered it into the contest . . . and it took third in the “Rescue Dog” category. He tracked down the owners later and got the dog back to them. Her name is Bonnie, and she’s a five-year-old beagle-mix.
2. A single mom who works as a bartender near Dallas got a $4,000 tip last week. Two women came in and bought a round of drinks for everyone. The one paying left a $1,000 tip, but then said it wasn’t enough and upped it to four grand. It turned out she’d just inherited some money and wanted to pay it forward.
3. A woman in Alabama just got her class ring back 53 YEARS after she lost it in a lake. It slipped off her finger while she was swimming in 1969. Someone found it while fishing and tracked down her son to give it back.
4. A Harvard study just found that being religious or spiritual can help you live longer. People involved in any sort of “spiritual community” tend to live longer, healthier lives. And they’re at less risk for depression.
5. A 200-pound turtle was found stuck under the boardwalk at Satellite Beach in Florida, and the Station 64 crew responded to a report from a citizen about it. The firefighters said the turtle just needed a little guidance and a push to get back out. Turtle rescuers arrived on the scene and helped the animal return to the water.
6. Someone saw a guy at a Waffle House in Florida attaching notes to $5 bills, so they asked what he was doing. He told them he hands them out to strangers, and the notes say “Love Everybody.” He’s handed out over $13,000 since 2014.
7. A 23-year-old guy named Tommy Stout recently got married, and knew his little brother Timmy couldn’t make it because he’d just joined the Navy. But then Timmy’s request for leave got approved, and he decided to keep it a secret. He sent a video of his best man speech to play at the wedding. And it ended with him saying, “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a wedding to attend.” And right then, he walked in in his uniform.
8. A small book store in Detroit recently got fleeced out of $35,000 by someone using fraudulent credit cards. And it almost put them out of business, but then the community stepped in to help. The owners started a GoFundMe to stay afloat, and it ended up covering ALL of their losses. They raised $35,098, then stopped accepting donations. A few people gave $500 or more, but most of the donations were 10 to 20 bucks.
9. A news outlet in Oregon did a story last Wednesday about a guy named Eric Akers who walked 33 miles to get to work after his car broke down. It took six-and-a-half hours, and then he worked a full eight-hour shift. But here’s the good news: By Friday, he already had a new ride. After a guy named Chris Arsenault heard about it, he and his wife decided to give Eric one of THEIR cars. It’s an older 1997 Honda but still runs great. Chris said he was impressed Eric still went to work, so he wanted to help him out.
