Here are some great stories.
1. A video is going viral of a Ukrainian soldier showing how his iPhone 11 Pro saved him from a BULLET. One commenter . . . who’s probably NOT in a war-zone . . . joked, “An apple a day keeps the doctors away!”
2. A husband and wife in Oregon designed biodegrade baby shoes that melt away into water after an infant outgrows them. But they’re strong enough to last through TWO babies, so they can still be used as “hand-me-downs.”
3. A 100-year-old World War Two vet in New York checked something off his bucket list by throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game. He’d wanted to ever since he saw 85-year-old Yogi Berra do it at a Yankees game in 2010.
4. A family of ducklings started walking across a highway in Washington state on Monday. So people pulled over, stopped traffic, and helped them across. Cars were moving again within about 10 minutes.
5. Celebrity chef José Andrés announced his charity World Central Kitchen has now delivered more than 100 MILLION meals to people in Ukraine.
6. A waitress at a pizza place in Pennsylvania recently gave a guy his bill for $13, and he tipped her $3,000. He said it was part of a social media trend called “Tips for Jesus.”
7. A McDonald’s franchise owner in Ohio had to close for three months to renovate, but never stopped paying his employees. He started out as a part-time worker there 60 years ago and worked his way up until he owned the place. He says he knows a lot of his employees live paycheck to paycheck, so keeping them on payroll wasn’t a hard decision.
8. A 13-year-old girl in Texas named Alena Wicker has become the youngest Black student to ever get into medical school. She has been accepted into Heersink School of Medicine at the University of Alabama. She graduated from high school last year, and has already completed two-and-a-half years of college.
9. A campaign just launched in Minnesota that allows people to support local breweries AND dogs at the same time. For $30, you can buy a “Sidewalk Dog” pass to visit 33 dog-friendly breweries and sample 47 free beers. 5% of the proceeds benefit the American Humane Society.
10. Firefighters in Florida rescued a massive sea turtle . . . from someone’s back porch. It was “peacefully returned to the ocean.”
