A federal judge has handed out the penalty for a 42 year old man from Rapid City convicted of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.
Cody Provost was sentenced to time served, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The conviction stems from Provost possessing and distributing hydrocodone, a Schedule II controlled substance, in South Dakota between the summer of 2019 and January 2021.
The case was investigated by the Badlands Safe Trails Task Force, which includes the FBI, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation, and the Department of Health and Human Services-Office of Inspector General.
