MITCHELL – Four Corners had the lead briefly Friday before Salem rallied for a 5-4 win in the first round of the SD Class B Amateur State Baseball Tournament at Cadwell Park.
Salem scored two runs in the top of the first, but Four Corners cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI groundout by Nathan Hainy.
Noah Hainy tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth for Four Corners (10-8).
Salem took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth, but then Four Corners tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a passed ball. A Justin Lester RBI ground ball then put Four Corners in front 4-3.
Salem then tied the game in the seventh and went ahead 5-4 on an RBI single in the eighth by Cole Cheesman.
