Capital Area United Way (CAUW) will have several teams cooking ribs before the Pierre Governors’ home football game on September 10. A pulled pork sandwich meal with chips, cookie, and water will be available for a free will donation from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
CAUW board member, Kyle Anderson, has been dreaming of a way to do a Ribfest type of event. He and another board member, Amanda Dodson, joined forces to organize a cook-off before the Govs home game.
There will be 7 teams preparing ribs. One of the CAUW Partner Agencies, a Govs sports team, and a community member who has perfected their rib recipe will each form a team. Each team will compete in two ways. A panel of judges will vote for the best ribs and they will compete to raise the most money.
Board member, Amanda Dodson, said, “ We are excited to be a part of the Govs football game as well as share information about all the great work that our Capital Area United Way does for this community. Our hope is that we will engage the students and also have fun!”
Pulled pork sandwich meals will be available starting at 6 pm under the bleachers. The public is invited to eat before the game, vote for their favorite Govs team, and cheer the Govs football team on Saturday, September 10.
