PIERRE – So far for 2022 Pierre Governor Football, there have been three games and three routs.
Lincoln Kienholz passed for six more touchdowns Saturday as Pierre easily moved past Mitchell 50-6 at Hollister Field at Phil Trautner Stadium.
Three of the touchdown passes were to Jackson Edman, and the first came only 1:10 into the game on a 10-yard play. Kienholz found Edman for a five-yard score on Pierre’s second possession. The Governors’ third possession was only one play, a 44-yard touchdown strike from Kienholz to Cade Kaiser. Edman caught a seven-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, followed by a 20-yard reception by Jett Zabel and a 74-yard pass from Kienholz to Jack Merkwan, who had 212 yards receiving. EJ Boutchee ran for the last Governor score on a 66-yard keeper in the fourth quarter.
Kienholz was 16-of-23 for 388 yards. In six games this season, Kienholz is 63-of-85 for 1,105 yards and 15 touchdowns with only one interception. He has completed 74 percent of his passes. Kienholz now has 73 touchdown passes and 6,783 yards passing in his career, both school records.
