SIOUX FALLS – Pierre Governor Soccer came away winless in the teams’ next-to last regular-season matches Saturday at Jefferson High School. The Governor girls salvaged a 1-1 draw with the Cavaliers and the Pierre boys lost 2-1 to Jefferson.
GIRLS: Pierre 1, Sioux Falls Jefferson 1
Ryann Barry scored in the 60th minute to earn the point for Pierre (7-4-1). Makenzie Nelson scored Jefferson’s goal in the second minute. Ireland Templeton made seven saves for Pierre, who was outshot 13-7.
BOYS: Sioux Falls Jefferson 2, Pierre 1
Rylan Derry scored his 18th goal for the Governors (7-4-1) in the 23rd minute, set up by a Steven Blanchette cross, but Jefferson had the better of the play after that. Andrew Hirsch tied the game in the 28th minute for Jefferson, with Mason Koch scoring the eventual winner four minutes later. Carson Ahartz made 10 saves in net for Pierre.
