A 32 year old man from Harrold is facing charges stemming from an incident about 11 o’clock last night (Oct. 3, 2022) in Pierre.
DeAndre Casey has been charged with First Degree Burglary, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing an Officer, and Intentional Damage to Property.
Information from the Pierre Police Department says officers were called to a disturbance outside an apartment complex in the 400 block of South Robert Street. During their investigation, they made contact with Casey and learned he was on parole. A hold had been placed on Casey by the parole agent monitoring his release. Officers informed Casey of this and attempted to take him into custody. As they did so, Casey ran from the officers. A foot pursuit ensued. Casey doubled back and entered the apartment building in the 400 block of South Robert Street. Casey then forced his way into an apartment, causing damage to the door frame in the process. The apartment was not his, nor did he have the legal right to be in it. He attempted to hide from the officers pursuing him while inside the apartment. Officers located Casey hiding in the apartment and took him into custody without further incident.
