Rite Aid recently stated that the pharmacy chain might put all goods behind plexiglass because of increases in theft. Walgreens and CVS have already implemented similar policies, meaning shoppers must ask an employee to unlock items like face cleaner, toothpaste, and cold medication.
Some customers have taken to Twitter to complain about these new practices, and say the inconvenience just drives shoppers to buy online. “Walmart loses A LOT of sales because folks see what they need is locked up & it will take a sacrificial tribute to get someone with keys…so they just leave,” tweeted user @kysters510.
Alternatively, some users suggest the old-school pharmacy model: Where everything is behind a counter, instead of locked glass.
