FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A man charged with three counts of murder in the shooting deaths of two co-workers and their unborn child at a North Dakota factory last year has changed course and wants to proceed with a trial the defense said during a change of plea hearing Monday (Oct. 31, 2022). Anthony Reese Jr., of Moorhead, Minnesota dropped a plan to enter guilty pleas to the charges, according to court officials. The 36-year-old Reese is charged with killing 43-year-old Richard Pittman and 32-year-old April Carbone, who was eight months pregnant. Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting an active shooter Nov. 17 at Composite America in Fargo and found the victims.
JANUARY 13, 2022:
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A man accused of killing two co-workers at a North Dakota plastics factory in November 2021 will undergo a mental health exam to determine whether he is competent to stand trial. Cass County Judge Wade Webb signed a commitment order Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2022) so that Anthony Reese Jr. can be evaluated at the North Dakota State Hospital as requested by his attorneys. Radio station KFGO reports that the 35-year-old Moorhead, Minnesota, man is charged with three counts of murder for the Nov. 17, 2021, shooting deaths of 43-year-old Richard Pittman and Pittman’s pregnant girlfriend, 32-year-old April Carbone, at Melet Plastics, a Fargo manufacturer that is also known as Composite America. Reese remains in custody on a $2 million bond.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A 35-year-old man has been charged with three counts of murder in the shooting deaths at a Fargo factory of a man and a woman who was eight months pregnant. Anthony Reese Jr., of Moorhead, Minnesota, is charged with killing 43-year-old Richard Pittman, 32-year-old April Carbone and her unborn child after an argument Wednesday (Nov. 17, 2021) at Composite America. He made his first court appearance Thursday, where a judge set his bond at $2 million and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Dec. 16. Authorities allege that Reese shot the couple after getting into an argument at the factory and being told by management to leave. Police say he later returned with a gun and opened fire.
