The South Dakota Transportation Commission has reluctantly approved (Nov. 22, 2022) a bid for work on and around the Interstate 90 bridge at Chamberlain.
South Dakota Department of Transportation engineer Sam Weisgram said they only had one company bid on the project.
Weisgram says they already rejected an earlier bid.
Weisgram says federal rules on bridges are pushing them to get the work done.
After some extended discussion, the board then approved the bid. Work is set to start in the spring.
