The South Dakota State Retirement System Board got an update on their investment status at their meeting last week (Dec. 1, 2022).
State Investment Officer Matt Clark said they are now seeing a modest increase in the current fiscal year.
Clark says the first six months of the year showed a slight loss.
Clark says he doesn’t see much of a turnaround anytime soon.
Clark was asked about state funds investing in cryptocurrencies.
The retirement system oversees about $15 billion in investments for state and local government retirees.
