DECEMBER 11, 2022:
A Rapid City man has been identified as the person who died Monday morning (Dec. 5, 2022) in a two-vehicle crash approximately five miles north of Rapid City.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates that a 2018 GMC Yukon Denali was southbound on Haines Ave near the intersection with Hale Place when it crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2013 Subaru BRZ.
Tony Dodd, the 50-year-old driver of the Subaru, was transported to a Rapid City hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He was not wearing a seatbelt
Neither Miranda Horst, the 14-year-old driver of the GMC, nor Danelle Horst, the 50-year-old passenger, were injured. The two females, both from Black Hawk, were wearing seatbelts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
