The winter storm that started moving into South Dakota on Monday (Dec. 12, 2022) is still causing hazardous conditions– especially in the central and western parts of the state.
Department of Public Safety Secretary Craig Price says while inconvenient, the no travel advisories and interstate closures are meant to keep people safe.
Price says it’s best to stay home again today.
If a motorist does become stranded in the storm, Price says the rescue effort takes local, county and state resources away from other tasks that need to be done.
Price says a rescue effort involves a lot of coordination.
A blizzard warning is in effect for much of central and western South Dakota through noon tomorrow (Dec. 16, 2022).
