North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum will be displaying a South Dakota State University football helmet on his desk for the rest of this month after losing a wager with South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem about the college FCS Championship football game yesterday (Jan. 9, 2023) in Frisco, TX.
South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds also won his wager with North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer. Rounds had steaks, SDSU ice cream and tiger meat on the line while Cramer promised enough bison burgers and brats to feed both Senators’ staffs in Washington, DC.
The Jacks beat the Bison 45-21 to bring home SDSU’s first national championship since both teams switched to Division 1 in 2004. The Bison have won the NCAA Division I Football Championship 9 times in the past 11 seasons (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021).
