HARRISBURG – A twice-delayed boys wrestling dual turned out to be well worth the wait for Pierre.
Rallying from a 22-9 deficit, Pierre topped Harrisburg 31-28 on Tuesday, with 106-pound wrestler Jacob Mason’s 4-0 decision over the Tigers’ Griffin Felder being the difference in the Governors’ victory.
A major decision by Deegan Houska, decision by Trey Lewis and pin by Chance Carda gave Pierre 13 straight points and tied the dual at 22-22. Jack Detert then had a Harrisburg fall for a 28-22 Tiger lead, but EJ Boutchee, Josh Rydberg and Mason all won by decision and Pierre pulled out the dual.
