Some of you may be superstitious, but hopefully these Feel Good Friday stories will make you forget all about that….
1. A new study found listening to music has probably helped a lot of people deal with pandemic-related stress the last few years, especially when Covid first hit.
2. A woman on Reddit posted a letter a DoorDash driver left in her mailbox, thanking her for a generous tip she left them on Christmas Eve . . . $100 on a $60 order. They said they’ve been delivering food since losing their job last fall. And the tip was so out of nowhere, they couldn’t stop crying.
3. Have you heard about this kid yet? An 11-year-old in Colorado named Jude Kofie has autism, and learned to play the piano without any lessons. His parents don’t have much money, so all he had was a keyboard. But late last year, a guy who tunes pianos named Bill Magnusson heard him play . . . and was so blown away, he paid $15,000 to buy him a grand piano. It doesn’t sound like Bill’s super wealthy. He used a chunk of his inheritance to buy it. He’s also paying for lessons, so Jude can get even better. And he promised to tune the piano for him once a month for the rest of his life.
4. A guy in Vegas named Frank Steele opened a pizza place called Frankenson’s four months ago. And he was struggling to even pay his rent until last week, when a popular TikTok food reviewer came in. The TikToker’s name is Keith Lee. He lives in Vegas and has over eight million followers. One of Frank’s employees had reached out on their own and asked how much he’d charge to review the place. Instead, Keith stopped by on his own last Monday, bought $80 worth of food, taste-tested it on TikTok, and loved it. And within hours, business was booming. Frank didn’t know why at first. But a reporter interviewed him two days later, and he got pretty emotional talking about it. Two things Keith really loved were the garlic knots and lemon pepper wings. Frank said he’d had more orders of those in the last two days than he’d had in four months. And it looks like his business might survive now. In one week, the TikTok review has racked up over 30 million views.
5. A Philadelphia Eagles fan did CPR in the stands and saved a guy’s life last week . . . and was in full face paint when he did it. He’s an E.R. doctor who performed in a parade before the game, and was still in costume. A nurse in full Eagles gear also helped. They got his heart going again, and the first question he asked when he came to was what the score of the game was. He’s expected to recover.
6. An 18-year-old pilot pulled off an emergency landing on a road near San Bernardino, California last week . . . while three family members were on board with him. The engine cut out, and his grandmother was in the backseat crying. So he had to tune it all out and focus. He’s been flying since he was 16, but just recently got his license. He eventually wants to be an airline pilot.
7. An anonymous resident of Accokeek, Maryland, is on an unbelievable winning streak. The unnamed man has claimed three separate $50,000 Maryland State Lottery Pick 5 prizes in November. He says he’s going to use his winnings to pay off his bills.
8. All the rain in California caused a rockslide near Malibu on Monday, and a last-second request by a guy’s girlfriend saved his life. He was walking to his car when she called and said she forgot her purse at his place. He went back inside to get it, and then heard a rumbling. When he got back to his car, a giant boulder had crashed through the roof, and was sitting on his driver’s seat. He said it felt like a scene from the movie “Final Destination”.
9. A Good Samaritan helped a cop pull a guy off a set of subway tracks in Brooklyn on Monday. The cop’s chest-cam got it on video.
10. A public safety officer in Michigan rescued a cat in a tree the other day. They posted a photo and said it could have been a “CATastrophe,” but they were able to serve up some “claw and order.”
11. Have you seen the videos of a doggy daycare bus picking up dogs in Alaska? They wait outside, and some know how to board the bus and find a seat on their own. So it’s like little kids going to school.
12. An 82-year-old guy in Canada just became the oldest person to ever do a headstand. He has a tradition where he does one every year on his birthday.
13. Here’s someone who never lost her sense of humor: A 65-year-old woman in England knew she had terminal cancer. So before she passed away last fall, she planned her own funeral . . . and hired a flash-mob to dance to the Queen song, “Another One Bites the Dust”. Her friends say it was VERY her.
