SD Discovery Center Starry Saturday activities tomorrow to feature new planetarium and dome system

The South Dakota Discovery Center in Pierre is unveiling its new, portable planetarium and dome system tomorrow (Jan. 14, 2023) during the monthly Starry Saturday event.

Executive Director Dr. Rhea Waldman says unlike the previous system they used, this one gives visitors a 3D, immersive experience.

Waldman says the new planetarium is able to visually take viewers through space.

Waldman says another advantage of the new planetarium is immediate access to updated and current images.

Tomorrow’s Starry Saturday activities will be held from 11am-1pm at the South Dakota Discovery Center Exhibit Hall in Pierre. Groups that would like to have the planetarium show come to them should contact the Discovery Center.
