PIERRE – Pierre Governor Girls Basketball had to deal with a physical game and with losing two of their starters to injury. Still, the Governors were able to top an ESD nemesis, thanks to their sharpshooting senior.
Remington Price hit four three-pointers and scored 23 points Tuesday as Pierre rallied in the second half to defeat Aberdeen Central 63-54 at the Riggs High Gym.
Pierre (9-2) used a 17-4 run in the first half to take a nine point lead before Aberdeen Central (3-6) rallied for a one-point lead. Pierre was up 41-39 with just under six and a half minutes left when Price hit her fourth three-pointer of the game. This was in the early part of a 23-6 run that turned the game irreversibly in the Governors’ favor.
Reese Terwilliger scored 17 for Pierre, including 12 in the second half. Ryann Barry scored 13.
Point guard Lennix DuPris did not play again after taking a hard fall and hurting her right leg late in the first quarter. Forward Ayvrie Kaiser hurt her right ankle in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game
Taryn Hermanson scored 22 points and Anna Malchow dropped in 18 on six three-pointers for Aberdeen Central.
