MITCHELL – Pierre Governor Girls Wrestling kept its tournament winning streak going Tuesday and became the first girls ESD champion at Mitchell High School.
With 152 points, the Governors easily outdistanced Harrisburg, who was second with 69 points. Aberdeen Central was third with 66 points.
Weight-class winners for Pierre were Dani Ringstmeyer at 126 pounds, Hattie Baldwin at 154, Ireland Templeton at 170, Marlee Shorter at 190 and Ciara McFarling at 285. In her only match, McFarling pinned Aberdeen Central’s Autumn Gauer to improve to 18-0 this season. All 18 wins have come by pins.
Shaylee Speck (106), Lexie Hillmer (113) and Abbi Lewis (142) were runners-up in their weights.
This event had been originally scheduled for Thursday at Brandon, but was moved to Tuesday so that results could count toward seeding points to determine state tournament seeds.
