Fort Pierre doing some shuffling, restructuring of job duties after loss of long-time City Superintendent Vern Thorson

Since the loss of long-time Fort Pierre City Superintendent Vern Thorson in November (2022), city officials have been reviewing their staffing structure to see how to most efficiently cover those duties.

Mayor Gloria Hanson says they’ve decided to divide things up between three positions.

Hanson says Fort Pierre actually has four positions to fill.

Hanson says they know their salary and benefits must be competitive.
