As interest increases in how food is grown and how things impact the climate, the curiosity about urban conservation also continues to grow in South Dakota and the United States.
Rachel Frei is the US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service Urban Conservationist for South Dakota. She says “urban” includes many types of small agriculture operations.
Frei says USDA NRCS began seriously delving into urban agriculture after the 2018 federal Farm Bill.
Frei says more information is available at local USDA Service Centers or on the South Dakota NRCS webpage.
This week is the 50th anniversary of National Ag Week. The theme is “Growing a Climate for Tomorrow.”
