It’s been about 20 years since the TSA limited liquids to three-ounce containers that had to fit in a clear bag. But their definition of “liquid” can be complicated.
Someone on Twitter said they got stopped for having peanut butter, because “liquids, gels, and aerosols” are limited. And they asked the agent, “So which of those is peanut butter”?
It started going viral, so the TSA put out their own message on social media, saying, “You may not be nuts about it, but TSA considers your PB a liquid . . . a liquid has no definite shape, and takes the shape of its container.”
This isn’t a new policy . . . it just happened to go viral now.
Peanut butter falls under the same “liquid” classification as toothpaste . . . moisturizers and creams . . . mascara . . . and jams and jellies. All these things, including peanut butter, ARE allowed, but only three ounces or less.
