Today (March 29, 2023) is “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day.”
The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs and Governor Kristi Noem are calling on all South Dakotans to recognize the courage, service and sacrifice of the men and women who served during the Vietnam War.
Veterans Department Secretary Greg Whitlock says more than 27,000 South Dakotans were called upon to serve in the military, and of those, 210 died. He says the establishment of an annual Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day affords us the opportunity to show support and gratitude for the service and sacrifice those veterans made to preserve our freedom.
