At Wednesday (April 12th) night’s meeting of the Mobridge City Council during public forum, Mayor Gene Cox read a proclamation for National Coin Week, which is April 16th thru the 22nd. The council also heard from administrative board members from the Mobridge Chamber of Commerce and its Tourism and 3B Committees, who gave updates on what the Chamber and its boards do in and for the community, with many events planned for this year.
Police Department
The council approved a salary increase for Captain Justin Jungwirth, who is taking on the additional duties of E911 Coordinator and Dispatch Supervisor.
Council also approved an inner agency transfer of a surplus vehicle to the Walworth County Sheriff, who needs it for transport.
Water/Wastewater Department
A pay request to Northern Plains Contracting for the screw pump project was approved in the amount of $73,245.00.
Council also approved the re-hire of Killian Warner as a seasonal summer employee.
Fire Department
Mobridge Fire Chief Doug Delaroi asked the council to approve an increase in the Fire Department’s expenditure budget for an insurance payment on equipment that was lost in a fire and will need to be re-ordered. This was approved.
Zoning
On the agenda was a building permit for Jack Shillingstad at 1505 1/2 4th Avenue East. Mayor Cox explained the issue.

New Business
A public hearing was held and council approved Dacotah Bank’s transfer of a liquor license to the Arcade Bar LLC.
Public hearing was held and approval was given to the Chamber on a brown bag permit for the upcoming Denny Palmer Memorial Fishing Tournament.
Council discussed and approved the creation of the position and job description for a Recreation and City Events Manager. Finance Officer and City Administrator Heather Beck told the council who she would recommend for the position.
Council agreed and gave their approval.
Pool employees for the summer season were approved. Again this year, all trainings and re-certifications will be done in-house.
Council also approved Resolution 23-02 setting cemetery fees, which will go into effect on May 10th.
